Come join us for our kick-off session of the Brew Science Speaker Series with Dr. Alison Feeney!

Pennsylvanians have enjoyed a long, rich love affair with beer. Craft beer creates a $7 billion economic impact on the state, and Pennsylvania now leads the nation in the production of barrels.

Dr. Alison E. Feeney has been researching the over 350 breweries that are contributing to communities throughout the state. In this kick-off speaker series event, learn about the history, geography, and cultural richness behind Pennsylvania’s craft brewing industry. Learn more about local breweries, their craftsmen’s unique stories, and how these craft breweries have contributed to the renovation and urban revival of small communities.

Dr. Feeney will also discuss which brewers use local hops, fruits, and grains in their recipes and how their proceeds support local rail trails, waterways, animal shelters, and community events.

Many of these breweries are also highlighted in her book, For the Love of Beer: Pennsylvania’s Breweries, which encourages visitors to record their visits as they travel around the state. Be sure to reserve a copy of her book when you register!

Her book will be available for purchase at the event, as well as information on the initiatives, tours, and courses that are being developed at Shippensburg University

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
