    SUMMER ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

    First-Year Schedule

    8:30 AM-9:00 AM - ORIENTATION CHECK-IN. Ceddia Union Build (CUB) ground floor
    Students and guests will check in for the day’s events. You will receive information packets, name tags, and meal tickets.

    *Student scheduled for Placement Testing, please arrive for early check-in at 8:00 AM before testing.

    8:30 AM-9:55 AM - ORIENTATION MORNING CHECKLIST

    ID PHOTOS. CUB Ground Floor
    Get your ID picture taken here. All students will receive their IDs at checkout. You will not be able to receive your ID before that time.

    CAMPUS RESOURCE CENTER. CUB 1st Floor
    Representatives from various campus offices will be on-site to answer questions.

    TECHNOLOGY HELP DESK. Orndorff Theatre Desk
    Do you need assistance resetting your SU email password or accessing your account? Visit our IT experts to get answers to your tech questions.

    9:15 AM-9:45 AM - PAYING FOR COLLEGE. CUB MPR
    (Optional session before the welcome)

    The Financial Aid and Student Accounts Office will provide information about loan processing, deadlines, and financial/billing issues.
    10:00AM-10:15AM - WELCOME ABOARD. CUB MPR
    Hear words of welcome from our university administration
    STUDENT BREAKOUT SESSIONS
    Students will be led to various sessions by our Student Ambassadors.
    10:30 AM-11:30 AM - MEET YOUR SHIPMATES. Various Locations
    Students are divided into small groups led by Student Ambassadors to connect with members of their class.
    11:50 AM-12:30 PM - ACADEMIC SESSION. Various locations
    Students will spend time in their chosen academic colleges and departments to learn more about their selected programs, connect with faculty, and meet classmates.
    12:45 PM-1:30 PM - SHIP CONNECTION. Various Locations
    Learn about the technology and apps that make you successful at Ship. From your email to myShip and D2L, these apps help you stay connected and track your academic process or progress. You can also see your fall academic schedule.
    1:40 PM-2:30 PM - LUNCH. Reisner Dining Hall
    Enjoy a complimentary lunch with our Student Ambassadors, faculty, staff, and your new Shipmates!
    2:30 PM - BIG RED’S MEETUP. Tuscarora Room (Reisner Dining Hall)
    Reconnect with your new Shipmates and the Student Ambassadors for interactive activities to help you connect with more Shipmates while having fun.
    3:15 PM-4:00 PMINTRO TO SHIP & UNIV 101. Various Locations
    Join a small group discussion with your group from the morning about the transition to Ship, the importance of making connections, and how you can utilize our campus resources. Additionally, you will learn about your UNIV 101 course, Ship traditions, and what is next for you this fall.
    FAMILIES & GUESTS BREAKOUT SESSIONS
    Family Council members and Admissions staff will lead families to various sessions.
    11:00 AM-11:30 AMNAVIGATING SHIP! Various Locations
    Families will meet with faculty members from their student’s academic department to discuss expectations and available resources and to get tips on how they can support their student.
    11:45 AM- Noon - SUPPORTING YOUR STUDENT. CUB MPR
    Family members can connect with incoming families and guests to learn about our PartnerSHIP Parent & Family programming at Ship.
    Noon - 12:30 PM - SHIP 101. CUB MPR
    Get information to support your students on their exciting journey. Topics include:

    1:30 PM-1:50 PMGETTING THE LAY OF THE LAND - CUB MPR
    Learn about what is next for your student. Hear from our First-Year Experience (FYE) team how they will help your student adjust to college and the classroom and engage on campus during their first year, as well as strategies for you to support their journey.
    2:00 PM-2:40 PM - NAVIGATING THE SHIP - SUPPORTING YOUR COMMUTERCUB, Orndorff Theatre
    Learn how to support your commuter student with parking, dining, studying, and getting involved on campus.
    2:45 PM-3:15 PMEMBARKING ON THE JOURNEY— SESSION 1
    Families will have the chance to learn more about our various resources on campus. Select from the options below to attend during sessions 1 and 2.

    Learn about the multiple ways Ship provides support to help your student succeed, including tutoring, early referrals, and first-generation and student success coaching.

    Charting Your Path. CUB MPR B
    Learn about Career Center services, workshops, career fairs, campus job opportunities, job shadowing, and internships.

    Diversity Engagement. CUB MPR A
    Making connections with others is an important part of the college experience. Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) strives to help students grow and develop self-confidence while engaging in an inclusive culture.
    3:30 PM - 4:00 PM - EMBARKING ON THE JOURNEY - SESSION 2
    You can choose one from the sessions above.

    4:00 PM-5:00 PM - RAIDER, SET, GO. Ceddia Union Building (CUB) 1st floor (optional)

    • Explore a residence hall led by our Student Ambassadors.
    • Speak with a representative from Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Campus Dining, Housing & Residence Life, PSECU, and more.
    • Get answers to your questions from orientation staff members.
    4:00 PM - 5:00 PMCHECKOUT. Ceddia Union Building (CUB) Ground Floor
    • Students: Submit your survey & pick up your student ID.
    • Families: Submit your survey to get your gift.
