    Spring Orientation & Welcome Weekend Agenda

    WELCOME TO SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY! We want your journey here to be successful so that you fulfill your potential on campus and beyond. Whatever your dreams are or whatever career aspirations you have, we are here to support you and help to make them happen.

    SPRING ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

    FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2024
    9:00 AM-Noon - RESIDENCE HALL MOVE-IN (if residing on-campus). Various Halls.
    Students living on campus can move into their assigned resident hall.
     

    9:30 AM-12:30 PM - ORIENTATION CHECK-IN. Ceddia Union Building (CUB) ground floor.
    Students and guests will check in for the day’s events. You will receive information packets, name tags, and meal tickets.

    CAMPUS RESOURCE CENTER.

    Representatives from various campus offices will be on-site to answer questions, including Financial Aid & Student Accounts.

    VEHICLE REGISTRATION. CUB 204
    Students who have completed the parking pass registration can pick up their parking decals. Students must register and pay by credit card online at parking.ship.edu before arriving at this location. Please bring your SU ID to receive your parking pass.

    PLACEMENT TESTING (STUDENTS ONLY)Mowrey Hall
    Students who are required to take placement testing and have yet to do so before orientation will need to test before the welcome session begins.

    REGISTRATION AREA FOR TROUBLESHOOTING (RAFT) ROOM (STUDENTS ONLY). CUB 120 (Fireside Lounge)
    Talk to representatives from Admissions, Academic Resources, and Registrar’s Office regarding changes to your major or other academic assistance.

    11:00 AM-12:30 PM - LUNCHReisner Dining Hall.
    Students and Guests are invited to enjoy a meal in Reisner Dining Hall for lunch before the orientation welcome session begins. Meal tickets will be provided at check-in.
    12:30 PM-12:45 PM - WELCOME ABOARD. CUB MPR.
    Hear words of welcome from our university administration.
    STUDENT BREAKOUT SESSIONS
    1:00 PM-1:45 PM - ACADEMIC SESSION. Various locations.
    Students will spend time in their chosen academic colleges and departments to learn more about their selected programs, connect with faculty, and meet classmates.
    2:00 PM-2:30 PM - SHIP CONNECTION. Various Locations.
    Students will learn how to navigate technology typically used by Ship Students.
    2:45 PM-3:15 PMTRANSITIONING TO SHIPDauphin Humanities Center 051
    Connect with other transfer students and your Student Ambassadors for a small group discussion about the transition to Ship, the importance of making connections, and how you can use our campus resources. Also, you will be able to learn about our Ship traditions and what is next for you this spring.

    Learn about the multiple ways Ship provides support to help your student succeed, including tutoring, early referrals, support for students with disabilities, student success coaching, and more. 
    Note: Families with specific questions for the Office of Accessibility Resource can visit the Campus Resource Fair from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the CUB First Floor or in Mowrey Hall, 2nd floor lobby, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

    SPRING WELCOME WEEKEND

    WELCOME TO SHIP! We have a great weekend planned for you to engage with your classmates and adjust to life on campus. Participating in these activities is a great way to meet new Shipmates and have fun before the semester starts.

    FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2025
    8:00 PM - Home Away from Home. Residence Halls. (Only for on-campus students)
    Meet your Residence Director (RD) and Resident Assistants (RAs) and learn what your new home offers. Please check in at your residence hall desk for the specific meeting location.
    9:00 PM - 11:00 PM - New Raider Night. Reisner Hall Tuscarora Room.
    Start your welcome weekend off right! Join your Orientation Leaders, Residence Life staff, and your new Shipmates for food, crafts, games, & more. This will be a relaxing and fun first night on campus. Don’t miss out!  
    SATURDAY, JANUARY 18, 2025
    11:30 AM - 1:00 PM - Brunch with the Orientation Leaders. Reisner Dining Hall.
    Come eat brunch with the SU Orientation Team. 
    3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - CUB Hangout. McFeeley's Cafe/Red Zone/Game Zone (CUB Ground Floor).
    Where can you find music, games, and food! THE CUB! Join the Orientation Leaders and your new Shipmates to hang out and have fun! Our Red Zone and Game Zone has dozens of table games and game systems to keep you engaged for hours. 
    8:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Trivia Night. McFeeley's Cafe (CUB Ground Floor).
    Test your knowledge! Come play in teams of up to four people for a chance to win. 
    SUNDAY, JANUARY 19, 2025
    1:00 PM - 3:00 PMDiscover the ShipRec. ShipRec.
    Where can you get a basketball? Or a disc for disc golf? Where can you work out? What are intramurals, and how do I register? Bring your workout clothes and enjoy all our Rec Center offers. To learn more about the ShipRec, visit ship.edu/shiprec.
